Specialty Courses

We here at Dropping Plates CrossFit are always trying to challenge our athletes with new and innovative ways to “get your workout on.”  We are extremely excited to announce that we will soon be introducing numerous Specialty Courses to our CrossFit menu.  These courses will only $5.00 to attend.  We’ll set up a punch card system through our mindbody scheduler for your convenience, or you can pay at the box.

We now have an awesome CrossFit Endurance coach, Karen Snyder.  Karen is somewhat new to the Endurance program but that really works out to everyone’s benefit.  She can definitely empathize with those new to CF Endurance, and at the same time she is also very well equipped to challenge a veteran runner.  Now that we’ve had the time changes, we are putting a hold on CrossFit Endurance until springtime.  It’s just too dark to run as a group.  Karen will still be available to give you advice and some individual workout ideas.  Get ready for Spring, we’ll have an entire season to trainn CrossFit Endurance again!

So what is CrossFit Endurance? The CrossFit Endurance workouts are a combination of typical CrossFit W.O.D.s (Workout of the Day) and an endurance portion (Run, Bike, Swim, or Row). The CrossFit portion is the strength portion of the workout. It’s Dynamic! These workouts can be extremely intense and tons of fun!

We are very excited to welcome Christina Pelletier-Zerby to the DPCF instructor family. She is a certified Yoga Instructor and will be teaching our Tuesday and Thursday Yoga classes at 7:30 p.m. We will offer the Yoga Classes beginningThursday, July 12.
Part of being a CrossFitter is having constantly varied, challenging movements as part of our workouts. While yoga may not incorporate the high intensity element of the CrossFit workouts (usually), it does use our bodies in different ways than we may use it on other days in the gym. Today you may be working on the quick movement in the snatch and tomorrow, in our yoga classes, you could be working on shoulder stability in a pose like side plank followed by some intense poses to improve the flexibility in your shoulders that will allow you to properly perform the snatch without injury. Yoga will compliment your Crossfit workouts and help you move into and out of lifts with greater ease and mobility.

On Saturday Mornings at 9:00 we offer an Olympic Lifting Course.  Both Sean and Greg have attended multiple Olympic Lifting Courses but even with their expertise, they jumped at the chance to have Coach Jeff Davis train our athletes on Olympic lifts. Jeff has trained hundreds of local athletes in football and wrestling at the local high school in addition to introducing us all to CrossFit.  This specialty course concentrates on improving your technique, knowledge and Olympic PR’s.   come check it outand they can’t wait to bring our athletes to that next level in their pursuit of fitness.

Later on in 2012 we are also planning on adding other specialty courses including CrossFit Gymnastics, adding new strength and balance to your routine and Rowing, adding endurance and strength.  Each of these courses will be extremely beneficial to our athletes and we look forward to bringing them to you soon!

  1. I have heard about the crossfit endurance and I would love to join you guys on it! I have been running on my own since I have moved to Saint Robert and I would love to take my weekly 6 mile run to another level!!! Whenever this class will be scheduled, I will make sure to stop by at the box and join you! Also my husband is a Drill Sergeant so his schedule is awkward at times, but he is very excited for this as well.
